Continuing on the previous posting, although we understand that the original bible manuscripts did not have chapter or verses, and some versions of the bible may differ in total content, I found an additional interesting coincidence in reference to Psalm 118, at least as it applies to the King James Version of the bible (KJV).
I checked this information in Snopes.com, a well-known urban legends website and I found another claim that stated that there are actually 31,174 verses in the King James Version of the Bible. Snopes.com goes on to say that because this is an even number, the actual center verse of the Bible could not be only one verse but instead would have to be both the 15,587th and 15,588th verses. This would then translate to the following verses in Psalm 118: “It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD Than to put confidence in princes” (Psalm 118:8-9).
Coincidentally, the message does not change and actually it becomes even more emphasized .
Nothing magical here just an incredible coincidence (maybe) with a monumental central message for us all.

The Cornerstone in the bible
It came to to my attention that the center of the bible (literally) is Psalm 118:8. This Psalm is sandwiched between the shortest and longest book in the bible, Psalm 117 and Psalm 119. There are 594 chapters before and 594 chapters after Psalm 118, (594+594=1188) and a strange coincidence is that the center is Psalm 118:8. In this verse we may find an incredibly important and wise council: "It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man."
Another very interesting reference in this Psalm as I have also alluded in previous postings, is the actual cornerstone of our faith. That is found in verse 22: "The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner." This verse was also used by Jesus himself in a parable to the Jewish leaders regarding his imminent crucifixion. That's the same verse Peter quoted in Acts 4:11 regarding Jesus being the chief cornerstone.
Jesus himself quoted: "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end."
Come to find out he is also the center and chief cornerstone.....
Psalm 118
1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.
2 Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
3 Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
4 Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever.
5 I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.
6 The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?
7 The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.
8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.
10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.
11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
12 They compassed me about like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
13 Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me.
14 The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
16 The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
18 The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD:
20 This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.
21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.
22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
23 This is the LORD’S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.
24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
25 Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.
26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.
27 God is the LORD, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.
28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee.
29 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Amen.

Beginning of time - Part 1 Continued
It is very important as we discuss the beginning of time that we do not err in relegating the word (Jesus) as a created being. The word was not only present in the beginning but the word was also with God and he was also God. The word, begotten of the father, was the very image of and essence of God and the member of the triune God that bridged the gap from eternity into our realm at the moment of creation. The word, translated from the original text (Logos) means a spoken or uttered command or decree. Just like the decree or command of an earthly king in ancient times carried the authority of the king so God the Father bestowed his authority through his word. It is amazing to see that the very penalty for sin had to be paid by the very one that created it all. The bible goes on to say in Matthew 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill".

Beginning of time - Part 1
Returning back to an idea presented in an earlier blog, I see a parallel in how science proposes how time began from a scientific point of view and what the bible states about the beginning.
A conclusion drawn by the author states: "My new analysis of the relationship between the electron's power requirements and the ARENA OF SPACE, and all the latest HiTech findings allows me to:
Put all the evidence together in one logical analysis and the conclusion must be a Big Bang Thermonuclear Conversion of Energy found in the pre-existing huge energy-filled arena of space.
And this puts the very slow moving Earth virtually right in the Center of our 27.4 billion year old Universe.
Again, Science finds the Tools; Philosophy seeks the Craftsman".

It appears that the arena of space was filled with energy (The Spirit of God) before time began and at some point which science calls it the point of singularity, energy was converted into matter by a thermonuclear conversion which science calls it the Big Bang. I believe that at that point when time began, the Eternal God, spoke the Word into the Spirit realm and as He begets the Son, He then becomes the Everlasting Father and creator. Coincidentally the bible says that "In the beginning was the Word (Jesus) and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning, all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. " - John 1:3. The word beginning implies the point in time or space at which something starts. The Son of God is the very essence of God the Father but He is the one that represents the Godhead in our realm or reality (His very image). Time and space began with the Word (Jesus) and it is amazing enough to see that even recent recorded history is referenced by BC or AD again making reference to Christ.
More to come....

Is the Universe infinite? Is space infinite?
Many scientists had originally thought that the universe might be infinite and eternal. However, there was a major problem with the theory. If the universe were infinite, the amount of light falling on the earth would also be infinite (assuming an approximately uniform density of galaxies throughout the universe. The reason for this is that the volume of the universe increases 8-fold with doubling of distance, while the decrease of light is only 4-fold with the doubling of the distance. The result is that the amount of light falling in the earth would double every time the size of the universe is doubled. Therefore, if the universe were infinite, we would not expect the sky to be dark at night. Since the night sky is dark, we know that the universe could not be infinite (Rich Deem - http://www.godandscience.org/slideshow/sld001.html.)
So if the universe is finite and there is evidence of darkness beyond the farthest known galaxy (approximately 13.7 billion light years away - edge of the universe) then at least for now, we can hypothesize that space continues and appears to be infinite.
This indicates a point of origin (science calls it singularity, more on this later) where the Creator decided to create time and matter and set the universe in motion into empty space. In other words, this is the dimension we humans live in. (I would like to add that I believe that the Eternal God at this point became also the Everlasting Father, more on this later.) If the universe was infinite and the observation of the amount of light falling on the earth is correct, it would not be possible for us to distinguish the celestial lights and bodies and therefore would have no reference point of time and space.
Coincidentally, God states a purpose for this phenomenon in Genesis 1:14 - God said "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night and let them serve as signs to mark seasons, and days and years....

Faith and Reason
It has been a while. Life sometimes is very demanding and time is a precious comodity.
As the Bible states: Time must be redeemed which makes it a form of currency and Faith must be tested as gold which makes it precious. I will try to be more diligent with my time and my faith and make good purchases with them.
The believer does not need science to prove the existance of God, we just come to Him by faith. Although I am convinced more and more each day that the laws that God has placed in this universe, if we are honest enough to search, and diligent enough to discover eventually point back to the Creator of it all.
This quote expresses that thought very eloquently:
For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries. (Robert Jastrow)
